The participants were divided into relevant chapter groups, according to their expertise, and discussions were held on the layout and content of each of the chapters. Each chapter group submitted a work plan at the close of the meeting.

• Endocrine functions of the gonads (steroids, steroid receptors, other factors)
• Pituitary gonadotrophin
• Brain, neuroendocrine regulation
• Light, pineal, melatonin, brain
• Puberty, growth, nutrition
• Broodstock
• Gamete quality, nutrition (egg quality, sperm quality)
• Hormonal control of behaviour
• Stress and immunity
• Future biotechnology, starting with current practices and looking to the future
