What is Reprofish?

Understanding & Communicating Fish Reproduction Research

Reprofish is a fish reproduction information dissemination project, funded by the European Community 6th Framework Programme. The aim of the project is to gather scientists and the aquaculture industry to identify and extract the most important results of past and current research programmes, and to prepare future actions.

 

Specific Objectives:

Development of a user friendly website, providing up to date information to the public, the aquaculture industry and scientists.

Edition of a review of ground-breaking research in a special issue of a respected scientific journal.

Submission of a knowledge gap advisory report to the European Commission.

Organisation of a workshop to facilitate dialogue between scientists and representatives of the European fish farming industry.

 

Target Groups:

Aquaculture industry - A closer dialogue is sought with the scientific community, with better access to finfish protocols and useful contacts.

Scientific community - Provision of a concise source of relevant, easily accessible information and a better understanding of the aquaculture industry's needs.

General public - Access to non-scientific explanations, educational materials and consumer information.
